Breast augmentation is one of the most requested surgeries at our clinic, as we are experts in the field, and worldwide. However, there is a certain myth surrounding whether it is possible to increase breast size without surgery. Myth or reality: can you achieve larger breasts without surgery? We tell you all about it.
Main myths about larger breasts without surgery
The main myths claiming you can achieve larger breasts without surgery include:
- Gaining weight
- Physical exercise
- Hyaluronic acid
- Miracle creams
- Lipofilling
1. If I gain weight, will my breasts grow?: Maybe
As a general rule, yes, but it doesn’t always happen. Breasts are composed of a combination of fat, ligaments, and connective tissue. The fatty tissue in breasts, called adipose tissue, typically makes up a larger proportion in bigger breasts.
However, gaining weight to increase breast size is not a good strategy, as the growth may be minimal compared to the increase in other areas of the body due to weight gain.
2. Can physical exercise increase breast size?: No, it tones them
Physical exercise can help achieve firmer breasts by toning the area around the breast, but it will not increase their size.
3. Can hyaluronic acid injections increase breast size without surgery?: Temporarily
Hyaluronic acid can very slightly and temporarily increase breast size, as the body absorbs the compound within four to five months. Therefore, the results are not permanent. Hyaluronic acid is only recommended in cases where the breasts do not require significant enlargement.
4. Do creams and treatments exist to make breasts grow and achieve larger breasts without surgery?: No
There are creams and products on the market that may improve skin hydration or sagging, but they cannot increase breast size.
5. Does lipofilling increase breast size?: Yes, but not in the same way as a breast augmentation
Lipofilling is a surgical procedure in which fat is extracted from one area of the patient’s body, processed, and injected into another area. It is used for aesthetic or reconstructive purposes in areas like the buttocks, breasts, face, and hands, though it can be applied to any body region.
Breast lipofilling has been performed for quite some time, but it has not replaced breast implants since the results are not as aesthetically significant. It is, however, an effective technique for correcting certain defects, such as filling the upper pole in some mastopexies or when the breast does not have enough skin coverage (very thin breast tissue) to properly cover an implant.
No matter the method you choose, always consult an expert to achieve the best results and avoid future issues such as displaced breast implants.
